INTRODUCTION
Ogun State has a total landmass of 16,981km2. Remo region is made up of 3 Local Government out of the 20 Local Governments in the State. Remo land has a population estimate of over 700,000 with a landmass of 957km2 and population density of 530 people per km2 (National average is 255 people /km2). The impact of human settlement on the immediate environment should therefore be given the right priority. Also at an animal growth rate of 8%, the Remo area of Ogun State is notably a fast growing area for human activities.
The human development index within the axis shows that industrial development is growing astronomically in the Remo North, commercial activities is growing in the central areas while development in the Agricultural sector is growing in the Remo South.
The consequences of these activities are the impact on the environment. There is presence on need for housing in the area thus ambitious housing development programmes by the Government & Private sector is a growing trend in the Northern part of this region. Transportation facilities are becoming over-stretch and demand on public utilities is almost over-bearing. Consequently, the impact of pollution from noise, sewage, drainage, industrial effluent and municipal waste management is becoming evident especially in the Sagamu, Simawa, Ogijo, and other areas in the Remo North.
Problem Definition
Environmental challenges in the Remo Area of Ogun State centred on the consequences of development and growth issues. The growth plan in this region is partly coordinated by Government and un-coordinated development done to uncontrolled human development. Notable environment challenges include;

- Drainage and flood control
- Traffic constrictions & Street trading
- Noise pollution
- Industrial effluent & gaseous emission
