ADDRESS BY REMO GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION (REMOGDF), DELIVERED DURING THE NEW YEAR VISIT OF MEMBERS OF THE FOUNDATION TO THE AKARIGBO & PARAMOUNT RULER OF REMOLAND-CUM THE GRAND PATRON REMOGDF.
It is a great honour for us to be here today, to formally visit and felicitate with your Majesty on this new year-2019. We intend to seize the opportunity of our trip to receive your Majesty’s blessings, on the gigantic assignment given us to boost the profile of Remoland and her indigenes,in all spheres of human endeavors.
There is no gain saying it, our task is daunting, but daunting and impossibility are not synonymous. In effect, impossibility is not in our lexicon. How could it be, given the right and dynamic leadership your Majesty has continued to provide both to Remoland and RemoGDF since ascending the exalted throne of the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, We heartily salute you sir.
Coupled with this, Remo is immensely endowed with human and material resources to make her landscape a cynosure among all Divisions and the primus among investment destinations of choice in Africa.
In addition to recharging our dynamo with your Majesty’s blessings, we have come to give a brief account of our activities in the year 2018 and present our program of events for this year. This 2019 is poised to be a watershed for Nigeria being an election year, and also for Remoland , having regard to the importance of the events we have on our card God willing, for realization, within 2nd quarters of this year.
The slated events are all novel and revolutionary in nature and to succeed, we need the grace of God, the backing of our Majesty, sincere collaboration of Remo Traditional Council, the active involvement of all Remo 1st elevens and indeed the support of all our indigenes at every stratum. These necessities will forthwith be clear as we list the events as follows;
Remo Trade Expo.
Remo Economic Summit.
Remo Endowment Fund.
Remo Day.
Sir, chiefly among your charge to us remains;
“To bond Remo people into a united and impregnable forte, and leveraging on that to bring about development to all the nooks and crannies of Remoland”
The spin-off of the charge includes Branding, Pursuing the welfare of Remo indigenes and a host of other laudable aspirations.
To make a head way, Remo requires, and we thus seek through your Majesty a policy thrust that will harmonize all important activities in Remo land. Principal of the activities is the several towns’ day that is celebrated at different towns and days in each year. For us to truly speak as one Remo and make a success of the events outlined above and in particular Remo Day, we need a policy that will collapse the Towns ‘day into one, under the aegis of Remo Day.
The alternative sir, is for us to have Remo Day every two or three years in which case, we would allow the Towns’ day to continue, but no Towns’ day celebration shall be allowed in any year earmarked for Remo Day.
The sine qua non of this matter actually induced this visit of ours,because as we are priming ourselves for RemoGDF 2019 calendar, we want to ensure nothing hinders our operations, or negatively affects our plans for Remoland.
We will therefore appreciate your Majesty’s immediate action, in evolving a policy that will enhance a Remo Day event that will reverberate across Nigeria and beyond.
Another cause for concern are some organizations that had been established for the same objectives of RemoGDF, although some are for the entire Remo, while others are for individual towns.
We have reached advance stage towards collapsing into RemoGDF both Remo Elders Forum and Remo Resource & Recreation Centre.
We will appreciate your intervention in our efforts to bringing such organizations into one fold of RemoGDF, so as to avoid unnecessary and unhealthy rivalry and essentially, spheres.
As the election approaches Kabiyesi there is palpable fear in the land that things might get out of hand, if urgent measures are not taken to preach peace among our contending politicians. We are also worried stiff about our unemployed but restive youths who are willing tools in the hands of politicians. Bloodshed is something we need to strongly canvass against to our youths and politicians sir.
An urgent meeting to broker peace among our politicians has become a necessity. Also our Churches and Mosques should be tasked to hammer peace messages repeatedly all through this politically charged period.
We want to take advantage of this visit to reassure your Majesty that we feel highly privileged, to be called upon at this material time in Remo history, to be part of your success story Kabiyesi. We also thank you sir for granting us the grace of your presence much as we pray; May Remo continually expand in leaps and bounds, may your reign be elongated, may your shadow never grow less and may Remo indigenes prosper wherever they are, in all their undertakings in the NAME that is above all Names.amen.
We wish your Majesty as we wish the entire Remoland Happy and Prosperous 2019.
